Results of the Fourth National Mobility Challenge: Participants Step Up with 12% More Activity

November 18, 2024

On November 16, the Fourth National Mobility Challenge came to an end. For two months, the challenge encouraged cities, towns, schools, universities, communities, and Lithuanian expats worldwide to actively walk and cycle. This year, 160,000 participants responded to President Gitanas Nausėda’s invitation to move, embrace the values of a green Lithuania, and promote accessible sustainable mobility.

This year’s challenge set new records: participants walked 12% more actively every day compared to last year.

In total, participants accumulated over 45 billion steps during the challenge, which is equivalent to 900 trips around the Earth. On average, each participant took 5,000 steps daily, amounting to about 56 minutes dedicated to regular physical activity. These impressive results exceeded last year’s record-breaking numbers, highlighting the challenge’s significant contribution to fostering positive daily habits.

The School Challenge drew the largest crowd, with over 61,000 students participating — a more than 10% increase compared to the previous year. The Town Challenge and Global Lithuanian Challenge also saw notable activity growth, with 22% and 24% more participants, respectively, than last year.

And now, it’s time to celebrate the most active participants! 😍
